Extra Curricular

Extra curricular Activities and special performances throughout the year provide our students with the opportunity to develop the abilities of public speaking, to demonstrate special talents, to fulfill themselves outside the academic routine, and to enhance their enjoyment of the school experience. Students find Oakview Preparatory School a happy, friendly, and challenging place; where faculty and staff have a caring interest in each student and broaden each student's learning beyond just the academics. Some of these activities are conducted during school hours and others are conducted after school. Please contact your child's homeroom teacher for more information and registration forms for the activities your child is interested in. Students must have and maintain good academic grades to enter or remain in extracurricular activities.

Life Skills

The objectives of the program are: to provide opportunities for the development  of self-understanding and self-esteem, to enable the individual to become a more effective member of the family and of society; to develop abilities and skills for coping effectively with various facets and responsibilities of one’s role(s) in the family, career world and society in general; to be aware of the similarities and differences in individuals and families in order to function within a changing social, economic and technological environment; to gain an understanding of how to manage one’s personal and/or family resources, both human and material, in terms of one’s goals and values; to unitize basic skills and guide him/her in mastering the application of those skills as an expression of functional literacy.

Sports

The Basketball extracurricular is a highly favored extracurricular at Oakview Preparatory. Besides its purpose to train members to be more skillful in playing, this extracurricular also cultivates its members to be more disciplined, more responsible, and also to team up with others without showing off. Practices are held on Thursdays. The basketball club activities are considered to be strenuous because aside from being required to have good physic, they are also demanded to have a mind of steel, a will to never give up, discipline, and most importantly, togetherness. Students in this activity must maintain good grades

Yearbook

Students in the 8th grade are able to assist with the annual school yearbook. Students are involved in the publication process, including picture taking, design layout, and editing.

Student Council

Selected students in 7th and 8th grade have the opportunity to serve the school through their direct involvement in raising funds and awareness for mission projects, selecting charities to receive chapel offerings and promoting our community.

Pantomime

The OPS Pantomime activity is more than just role playing or dramatic presentation. Participation in this extra-curricular activity not only introduce students to basic public performance techniques and theater terminology, but is also an activity for our students to learn how to work together in groups, think critically, use body and motion to non-verbally communicate emotions or ideas and solve problems. Additionally; students learn how to improve their focus, self-confidence, and social skills.
The students involved are expected to work to the best of their ability to achieve group and individual success.
